Trans Am Cars Race 6 3000

Results Race 6

The Pony Car Wars wrapped up last Saturday with the 6th and final race of the 2014 Trans Am series.  Seven drivers took to the track in their final battle.  The overall series leader, Marty was unable to attend, but, as he had an unassailable lead, he could afford to miss the final.  The standings for Class B were still wide open.

Heat 1 began with Jordan in Yellow, Austin in Blue and Russell in Green.  It was a close battle between Jordan and Russell, with Russell just ahead at the finish, 64 to 63.  Austin followed in the Cougar.

Russell and Jordan moved into Blue and Green and Shawn checked into Yellow for Heat 2.  Right away, Shawn took the lead and Russell struggled to catch up.  After 5 minutes, Shawn had run 68 laps, Russell 67 and Jordan 63.

For Heat 3, David, the current Class B leader joined the fray.  David and Jordan battled for the Class B lead, while, once again, Shawn was not to caught, as he completed 69 laps.  Jordan came out ahead of David by two laps.

For Heat 4, Ary was in Yellow, Shawn in Blue, and David in Green.  The race was red flagged on Lap 22 as David deslotted coming to the Start/Finish line, crossed the other two lines and struck the bridge abuttment.  First Ary, and then Shawn were collected in the incident as the track was blocked under the bridge.  After the restart, Ary tried to catch Shawn but came up a lap short, 66 to Shawn’s 67.  David finished with 59 laps.

Mark took to the track for Heat 5, but struggled with his Challenger and was only able to complete 47 laps.  Ary kept flying and turned 68 laps and David completed 61.

Ary completed his run in Blue in Heat 5, not quite able to catch Shawn’s total.  Austin turned 55 laps and Mark turned 50.

In the final heat, Russell’s Chaparral Camaro finished up with 66 laps, Austin was 53 and Mark was 48.

So, as stated before Marty was the overall Trans Am champion for 2014 with 99 adjusted points, Shawn was second with 92 points and Russell was third with 89.  For Class B, Jordan managed to just overtake David for the win, 84 points to David’s 82, followed with Mark at 72 points.  Congratulations to all participants!
